Bakeries (Mostly French)

I haven't figured it out yet, but a lot of (real) French people live here. And, better yet, some of them have opened bakeries. I once spent the majority of a trip to Montreal in the back seat of our rental car with a baguette in one hand in a wedge of brie in the other.

Champs Elysses

IMG_6084.JPGOn Sunrise down the street from Publix in Palm Beach. Going to this bakery makes me like living here. Please don't go if you're in a hurry. The owner is from France - he's been here forever but he doesn't speak English very well. If there is someone in front of you who speaks French, you might as well sit down and wait because it's going to be a while. I love it. Best things to get: apple tart, sugar cookies, chocolate crossaint, blueberry muffins, baguettes, sandwiches, bouche de noel (not sure if that's spelled correctly), pretty much whatever he and his wife make is great. The store doesn't have the "gloss" some of the other french bakeries have but if you go too late on a Saturday morning forget about getting your first pick of crossaint. I always say "bonjour monsiour" in the worst french accent (think southern). But I don't care. I'm in the moment.
Paris In Town
11460 US Hwy 1, North Palm Beach
626-6017
IMG_5941.JPGBeing from the south I always think of a monogram. I don't think the owners of Paris in Town thought about theirs though. I love going to the P.I..T. (by the way, I've gotten other people to start calling it this so watch out, it's catchy). They have an all around great menu. For desert try the chou chou's - they're a pastry without any filling - just air.

On County a couple of shops down from Hamburger Heaven in Palm Beach. The pastries are good here too but I really love to look at the chickens and Gien plates. An artist makes these great chickens - you have to see for yourself.
Upper Crust
2015 N. Dixie Hwy, Lake Worth
586-5456
On Dixie Hwy in Lake Worth. I know lots of people who love their pies. I'm not really a pie person (more of a cake one actually) so I have only received their pies not bought one. This is a "need to know about place".
